What should you choose for your online business, Inbound or Outbound Marketing? Would the answer be simpler if you were to separate one from the other and radically decide? There are lots of arguments, pro and against one or the other method.
To understand what is the better choice, to easily choose which one is best for you, to convert faster and to obtain a better ROI (Return On Investment)… you should dig further.
What do you feel when you sit on a comfortable sofa, drinking your favorite beverage and tasting your favorite snack, while watching your favorite movie on television, ultimately near your loved one?
I bet you feel great! 🙂
Now tell me what do you feel in the above situation, when suddenly the movie is interrupted, and an entirely unwanted and insistent advertising invades your screen?
In the best case, you sigh while your hand remotely changes the channel hoping to find something more interesting until the movie starts up again.
Well… it means that you are simply trying to get rid of mass spam. Meaning… you are throwing away the product of what is referred to as outbound marketing.
You have to admit that lately, more and more people tend not to be interested in this type of marketing. Not because it is the wrong method, but because many marketers have become too aggressive and the audience simply can’t bear their disruptive advertisements any longer.
As an alternative to the old outbound marketing, the inbound methodology was born. Especially because customers have stepped into the new (but already old) virtual world. Almost all their activities have moved there. Therefore, their buying habits have changed, and they adapted their taste to the on-line medium.
Obviously, you did it also. Moreover, you moved your business online, and you are trying to find methods to boost it.
For sure you have tried the outbound marketing methodology, but for some unknown reason, it doesn’t seem to work too well.
In truth, whether or not you’ve heard about inbound or outbound marketing, you encounter both of them each day. Without a doubt, they are everywhere, in all domains, at all levels.
If you do some online research, you will find tons of articles talking about Inbound or Outbound marketing. Many of these articles focus mainly on the idea that the Inbound Methodology represents the future of the marketing strategy. Moreover, many of them declared the outbound method already dead.
Although I am a Certified Inbound content-writer/marketer, I still can’t agree with such radical statements. In my humble opinion, none of these methods are dead.
Of course, there are moments when I am also annoyed by the outbound aggressiveness.
But this doesn’t allow me to declare that choosing one or another method is the right way of planning the marketing strategy for your online business.
Since the internet appeared into our lives, marketing methods have suffered radical changes. Such as with everything in life. This doesn’t mean something is dead. Only that, everything evolves. Marketing strategies included.
Fortunately, you don’t necessarily need to choose inbound disregarding outbound considering it dead, neither choose outbound thinking that inbound is a utopia.
There will always exist a middle line, where both methods will meet. Moreover, combining Inbound and Outbound Marketing will bring you the best results ever.
The Content Marketing Specialist at Salesforce Pardot, Lauthel Ochio, says:
“Inbound and Outbound marketing are really two sides of the same coin: inbound brings prospects to you, while outbound brings you to prospects. They should and do work well together, and are equally not as good by themselves. Ideally, a solid marketing strategy will encompass both, so that no matter how your prospects and clients choose consume your content, you’re able to provide what they need at each stage of the buying cycle.”
